Leader Growth and Development

Guiding professional learning to grow strong leaders

The LEAD growth and performance system is used to communicate performance levels, provide meaningful feedback to inform professional growth planning and guide professional learning for school leaders. LEAD was created through collaboration with current and former DPS school leaders and central office leadership.

The system is designed to be used in tandem with the LEAD Framework so that performance ratings reflect our shared leadership expectations and support school leader growth. Ultimately, the system provides transparency and consistency to support school leader performance and growth.

At the end of each performance year, school leaders receive final ratings. To determine final ratings, LEAD looks at multiple measures of a school leader’s performance related to Professional Practice and Student Growth.

To ensure leaders experience growth throughout the school year, LEAD incorporates professional growth plans, progress monitoring conversations and end-of-year rating conversations.
