In Denver Public Schools, we know we won’t reach our vision of Every Child Succeeds without attracting and keeping the best possible teachers for our kids. We are committed to working with our teachers’ union, the Denver Classroom Teachers Association, to build a salary system that better supports our educators at every stage of their career.
DPS is Proposing a Compensation System that:
- Adds $11 million to educator pay on top the the $45 million that DPS committed last year toward increasing teacher compensation.
- Invests more money in predictable annual salaries and less in one-time bonuses.
- Commits incentives for educators serving in our highest-poverty schools and our hardest-to-fill jobs, such as teaching secondary math or in Spanish-language classrooms. About 75% would earn one of these bonuses.
