The purpose of the Sick Leave Bank is to provide the means of obtaining additional sick leave days (upon proper approval) to eligible employees who are on an extended personal illness leave, have exhausted all of their accumulated leave and would otherwise be on an unpaid leave status. It is not the intent of the SLB to provide additional days off for elective surgery, surgery that can be scheduled during a regularly scheduled break, or prior to retirement or resignation.
